Let's make #1 - Quilted Phone Pouch

Hey friend, thank you for joining me for my second Substack post! Today I want to show you this cute little project and I hope you’ll love it as much as I do. I’ve seen a lot of crossbody phone pouches going around the internet lately and think that they’re actually a pretty good idea for when you perhaps don’t want to carry a handbag but don’t want to stuff your pockets/don’t have pockets. They are essentially a pocket on a string! I’ve been wearing mine everyday since I made it. On days when I’m busy working away in my studio and I use my phone a lot, it’s great to keep it in my pouch as I know exactly where it is.
2/10 Great for when you don’t feel like carrying a handbag/stuffing your pockets!

4/10 I cut out some of the selvedge text and used a tiny zig-zag stitch to attach as a kind-of decorative label.
5/10 The pouch has an internal pocket to slip phone into with an extra zip up section too.
6/10 I hand-stitched a metal press fastener into my pouch but you have many options for fastening.
I used some pretty Liberty quilting cotton fat quarters I bought last year. I love having these on hand for when I have small crafty projects in mind. The main phone pouch requires around one fat quarters worth of fabric and I used scraps from another fat quarter to make the bias binding. The great thing about fat quarter bundles is that the fabrics will generally coordinate with each other and the two fabrics I used came from the same bundle. This is also a great scrap-busting project and it might be fun to make pouches to coordinate with garments! As I was mostly inspired by this APC Phone Pouch, I saw an opportunity to use the selvedge text as a cute label on my pouch.

7/10 Sorry this is a poor choice of background but I wanted to show you what I typically keep in my pouch! Phone, lipbalm, bank cards and solid perfume.
